Dianne Akins

November 3, 1955 — November 5, 2022

The Day and Year of November 3, 1955, a baby girl was born to Mary Hoskins and Jerry Butler in Tunica, Mississippi. Although she was named Dianne, she later adopted the nickname "Danny" by her loving family.
Dianne began her education at Cook Elementary School in St. Louis, MO, then furthered her studies in the Wellston City School District after moving with her parents.
Dianne obtained her Christian Faith early in life becoming a member of Sutter Presbyterian in St. Louis, MO. She eventually became an Evangelist speaking on all the goodness of the Lord.
Dianne married Marvin Akins Sr., on November 16, 1970.
Dianne worked for the Special School District as a teacher's aide for four years along with taking care of her family as a wife and mother. Her many joys were playing the game "gone bad" with her neighborhood friends as a young girl, being a wife of 51 years and a dedicated mother to her children. She also enjoyed cooking, knitting, playing with her grandchildren and great- grands as well as witnessing and acknowledging the mercy and grace of the Lord. She loved her family and was very patriotic to the military way of life. Dianne transitioned to her Heavenly Father on November 5, 2022 at 3:02am. She will be remembered by a host of family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory eleven children, Angela Lewis, Nathaniel Akins Sr. (Joyce), Marva Akins, Lois Akins-Gruswitz (John), Carlene Edwards (Walter), Rosalind Hagedorn (Jeff), Dianne Akins, Marvin Akins Jr. (Kimberly), Andre Akins (Shyheta), John Akins, Mathew Akins and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her favorite Uncle Leon Bell; seven siblings, Sandrietta Brown, Tyrone Butler (Gina), William Butler, Eric White, Iretha Powell (Joseph), Christine Powell (Rashaad), Val Berry, Vanessa Johnson (Jacob) and her brother-in-law, William Cheatham. Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and George Berry; three siblings, Gladys Taylor, Keith Butler and James Butler.
