Carlotta “La-La” Canova Bond was born on November 12, 1975, in Saint Louis, Missouri, to the late Countee and Jessie Mae Bond. She graduated from Riverview Gardens High School in 1995 and later earned an Associate’s Degree in Administrative Assistance from Hickey College in 2002. In June 2024, Carlotta relocated to Houston, Texas, where she resided with her daughters.
Carlotta was a hardworking and dedicated individual. She spent over 15 years working in the housekeeping field, primarily with Residence Inn, where she took pride in her work and commitment.
Affectionately known as "La-La," By nature, Carlotta was quiet and introverted, but found joy in observing the world around her. She loved people-watching and often visited O’Fallon Park to relax and take in her surroundings. In her younger years, she enjoyed writing raps and freestyling with her family.
Her Faith was important to her, and after the passing of her mother in June 2006, she gave her life to Christ and attended Lively Stone. Though she did not attend church regularly in later years, she remained devoted to her Faith, reading daily devotions and listening to the Word of God. She often expressed her belief in God’s blessings, using the phrases “Blessed” or “Uniquely Blessed.”
Carlotta had a love for simple pleasures—going out to eat, watching television (especially Little House on the Prairie), and spending time with her children and family. She was an avid Saint Louis Cardinals baseball fan and took pride in wearing army fatigued clothing, believing she was a soldier in her own right.
Carlotta is survived by her four children: Tiarra "Boo" Mitchell of Houston, Texas; Ca’Myla "Cooh" Taylor of Austin, Texas; Dyrrion "Pooh-Man" Stewart; and Jesse "Tookie" Stewart of Saint Louis, MO; her sister Linda Bond; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Countee and Jessie Bond, and her brothers, Kenneth and Freddie Sweat
